Beloit officially opens the Rock River Trail Scenic and Historic Route

September 16, 2013 was the official opening of the Rock River Trail Scenic and Historic Route in Beloit, Wis. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at Riverside Park on the Rock River near Celebration Monument. Signs have been installed on the streets that comprise the road route through the city. Participating in the opening ceremony were from left, Greg Boysen, Beloit DPW director; Wis. State Rep. Amy Loudenbeck; Lori Williams, Rock County Parks director; Sheila De Forest, Beloit city councilor and member of the Rock River Trail Initiative Council; Wis. State Rep. Janis Ringhand; and Larry Arft, Beloit city manager. The motorized road route will eventually be marked along all 320 miles of the river through Wisconsin and Illinois.
