Hustisford Dam Removal, Dodge County, Wisconsin

With grants from the Wisconsin departments of commerce and natural resources in 2011, the village of Hustisford and Lake Sinissippi Improvement District were able to remove the low-head canning dam in the Rock River channel just downstream of the main Hustisford Dam.  The low-head dam was built in the early 1900s to create a pool to provide process water for a canning factory located on the shore.   The factory closed its doors after World War II, but the dam was left.   The low-head dam was finally removed as part of a flood mitigation project.
